Community Action / Public Policy: Monday, February 6, 2:00 pm at the home of Jean Johnson, (new).  We will be discussing the revised Scottsdale General Plan coming up for a vote.  Please RSVP to Jean. 

 

North Scottsdale Books: Tuesday, February 7, 10:00 am.  Book: Tinkers by Paul Harding.  Hostess: Shirley Perry.  The book for March is Work Song by Ivan Doig.

 

Books, Etc.: Wednesday, February 8, 7:00 pm.  Book: Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese.  There’s a mystery, a coming-of-age, abundant melodrama and even more abundant medical lore in this idiosyncratic first novel from a doctor best known for the memoir My Own Country (1994).  Renae Bates will lead the discussion.  Hostess: Joyce Yarbrough. Please RSVP to Joyce.  The book for March is Loot: The Battle over the Stolen Treasures of the Ancient World by Sharon Waxman.

 

Writing Your Life: Thursday, February 9, 10:00 am.  Meeting Place: Paradise Bakery at Gainey Village on Doubletree and Scottsdale Roads. Please RSVP to Donna Farman.  Our topic will be “Things My Mother Didn’t Tell Me.”

 

Diners Club: Saturday, February 11, 11:00 am.  This will be our annual Dim Sum lunch at C-Fu Gourmet in Chandler.  Everyone is welcome to join us for this fun Diners Club event.  For reservations, please contact Anne Palazzo.

 

Non-Fiction Books: Monday, February 13, 10:00 am.  Book:In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson.  Hostess: Anita Waage.  The book for March is Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women by Nicholas P. Kristof and Sheryl Wudawn.

 

Ladies Bridge Marathon: Monday, February 13, 1:00 pm at the home of Ruth Worden.  Contact Ruth for more information.

International Relations: Thursday, February 16, 1:00 pm.  Hostess: Gerry Ramsay.  Topic: Chapter 5, Exit from Afghanistan & Iraq.  Group leader is Illean Finkel.

 

What’s Cooking?: Wednesday, February 15, 9:30 am.  Hostess:  Shirley Durocher.  Reservations are required beginning the day the Vision arrives.  Parties cancelling after February 11 will share in the cost of the food.  For reservations and information, contact Shirley.

 

Scrapbooking: Monday, February 20, 1:00 to 4:00 pm.  Hostess and group leader: Sharon Clunk.  Learn how to organize your photos and memorabilia.  Also, continuing scrap-bookers will be your helpers.  RSVP to Sharon.

 

Bookies: Tuesday, February 21, 12:30 pm.  Book: Still Alice by Lisa Genova.  Hostess: Margi Walters.

 

Cultural Potpourri: Thursday, February 23, at the Heard Museum.  Lunch will begin at 11:30 am followed by tours of the museum.  Please RSVP to Jayann Fordon, as she needs a count for lunch.  Guests are welcome and there is a charge for museum admission (unless you go as a guest of a member). 

 

Branch General Meeting:  In lieu of a February branch meeting, we hope to see everyone (and their relatives, friends and guests) at our Celebrating Arizona Women event on February 24 and 25.  Please see the Save the Date page for all the information about these exciting performances at Scottsdale Community College.  Make your reservations now!!
